Heritage Alive Archaeology Camp 2026

The Heritage Alive Archaeology Camp 2026 offers a hands-on summer experience for youth ages 8–14 who enjoy exploration, discovery, and adventure. This program provides opportunities to dig for artifacts at historic locations while learning from experienced leaders about history and natural treasures. Campers will work together to uncover findings, strengthening teamwork and problem-solving skills. The camp will take place from Monday, June 22 through Friday, June 26, from 8:30 AM to 12 PM, with locations at Lincoln Park in Taylors, SC, and Phillips Homestead in Greer, SC. Activities include using metal detectors, identifying and preserving artifacts, geocaching, historical rubbings, and mapping and caring for sites. Participants will receive professional instruction and use tools to clean and study artifacts while also engaging in geocaching activities. Transportation to archaeological sites is required. The cost is $150 per camper, which includes instruction, resources, and snacks. The camp is led by Greg McKee, a former YMCA Camp Greenville director with extensive experience in archaeology camps, and Marco Gast, a teacher and recreation leader with 14 years of experience working with youth.
