Dr. McClam is a graduate of Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Religion (B.A). He attended Gammon Theological Seminary on the campus of the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, GA. He is a graduate of Erskine Theological Seminary where he received his Master of Divinity degree (M.Div.). He has also received Continuing Education credit in Psychology from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA, and in 2020 earned the Doctor of Theology degree (Th.D.), graduating with distinction with a concentration in Biblical Exposition/Pastoral Theology. Dr. McClam also received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree (DDiv.) from Trinity Theological Seminary.
Dr. McClam has served as pastor of several churches within the North Georgia and South Carolina Conferences of The United Methodist Church over the past 32 years. He is currently the senior pastor of St. Mark United Methodist Church, Taylors, SC.
Dr. McClam is a 33rd Degree Mason, a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. and a host of other fraternal organizations. He is a Martial Artist with a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and a Yellow Belt Rank in Shaolin Kempo Karate. He has served on the South Carolina Conference Board of Ordained Ministry as The Parliamentarian, Chairman of the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry Policy Review Committee, The Approval for Service/Transfer Committee, former Chair of the Charleston and Florence District Board of Ordained Ministry, Member of The Florence District Committee on District Superintendency, Member of the Florence District Board of Trustees, Chair of the South Carolina Conference Committee On Nominations, the Charleston District Board of Congregational Development, the Charleston Christian-Jewish Council, the Committee on Religious Affairs Branch of The Charleston NAACP, the Charleston District Grant-Writing Representative of the E.L.C.C., and a host of other civic and community committees. Dr. McClam currently serves on The Greenville District Board of Ordained Ministry and was most recently nominated to serve on The Board of The Furman Wesley Foundation.
Dr. McClam is the 1996 recipient of The Outstanding Young Man of America Award and the recipient of the Charleston Chapter of the NAACP’s 2005 Hero Pastor of the Year Award. Dr. McClam has also been honored and recognized by The State of South Carolina House of Representatives for Outstanding Pastoral Leadership and is the recipient of several other awards, in recognition of his professional achievements, leadership abilities, and service to the community.
